There is no "ordinary" in the heroes presented here except in terms of their backgrounds. These are Canadians who were placed in situations whereby they decided to improve in their work and do the best they could.
They range in all types of occupations. A common trait is they gave of themselves to the point where they made a significant difference to someone in our society in one way
or another. People admire and respect individuals who overcome problems they had to face and, in turn, make a meaningful contribution to our country.
In many cases, ordinary heroes are not recognized by our society. There could be an individual living next door who has made personal sacrifices in order to support his family and who goes on day to day
doing his personal best for his family and other close friends. There are stories of individuals who have saved others from drowning or have saved people who were in automobile accidents. One reads about these heroic acts in the
local newspapers from time to time. These people become heroic at the time of the incidents and, in many case, retort they were only doing what anyone would do. Many people you meet everyday have the same
instints to help others if needed.
